# George Gamow (@george-gamow)

George Gamow was a Ukrainian-born American theoretical physicist who helped explain alpha decay through quantum tunneling and helped develop the hot Big Bang model. He also became an influential popularizer of physics.

His cosmology was collaborative: Ralph Alpher performed central calculations, Robert Herman developed the background-radiation prediction, and later evidence refined what primordial nucleosynthesis could explain.
