# Fabiola Gianotti (@fabiola-gianotti)

Fabiola Gianotti is an Italian experimental particle physicist who led the ATLAS collaboration during the period when it and CMS discovered the Higgs boson. She subsequently served two terms as CERN’s Director-General, from 2016 through 2025.

Her career joins hands-on detector physics, leadership of a collaboration numbering in the thousands, and stewardship of an international laboratory. Each achievement depended on institutions designed to make collective science possible across countries and decades.
