Hubble also developed an influential system for classifying galaxies by visible form. Although the sequence was once read too literally as evolutionary, its categories remain useful descriptive vocabulary.

The Hubble Space Telescope carries his name and has extended the subjects he studied, from distance measurement to galaxy evolution. The name is prominent, but accurate history preserves the collaborators and predecessors behind the discoveries.
