# The Scream and Emotional Landscape

The Scream transforms a bridge, fjord, sky, and simplified figure into a total image of panic. Landscape no longer serves as neutral setting; curves, color, and perspective register emotional disturbance.

Munch produced multiple painted and printed versions. Their differences show that the motif was an ongoing problem rather than one definitive object.
