# Prints, Repetition, and Expressionism

Munch translated major motifs into lithographs, etchings, and woodcuts, exploiting each medium’s texture and reproducibility. His rough-cut woodblocks and compressed figures influenced later Expressionist artists.

Printmaking widened circulation while preserving variation: color, paper, pressure, and registration could make each impression distinct. Reproduction became a method of revision rather than mere copying.
