# Framing, Drawing, and Photography

Steep angles, cropped bodies, asymmetry, and artificial light give Degas’s scenes a modern visual rhythm. He combined rigorous drawing with experiments in monotype, pastel, printmaking, and photography.

The apparent snapshot is therefore often a result of sustained revision. Photography and serial studies expanded his ways of analyzing pose, light, and movement.
