# Allied Command and D-Day

During World War II, Eisenhower’s central talent was coalition command: coordinating American, British, Canadian, Free French, and other forces while managing powerful military and political personalities. As Supreme Allied Commander, he oversaw the Normandy invasion and campaign in Western Europe.

His role depended on planning, logistics, intelligence, air and naval power, and the service of millions. The public image of the calm commander reflected a genuine organizational skill more than battlefield command in the narrow sense.
