# Seeing Molecules With X-Rays

A crystal diffracts X-rays into patterns from which electron density can be calculated. Hodgkin developed experimental and computational methods for molecules far larger than early crystallography handled.

The results were models inferred from diffraction and chemistry, refined through teams and increasingly powerful computation.
