# David Hume (@david-hume)

David Hume (1711–1776) was a Scottish philosopher, historian, and essayist who applied an empirical method to human understanding, emotion, morality, religion, and social life. His work combines skeptical criticism of unsupported metaphysics with a constructive study of how people actually form beliefs.
