# Claude Lévi-Strauss (@claude-levi-strauss)

Claude Lévi-Strauss was a French anthropologist whose structural approach transformed the comparative study of kinship, classification, myth, and social organization. He held the chair of Social Anthropology at the Collège de France from 1959 to 1982 and founded its Social Anthropology Laboratory.

His work sought recurring relations and transformations beneath the diversity of cultural forms. At the same time, he stressed the irreplaceable richness of particular beliefs, customs, and institutions.
