Herschel corrected and indexed Flamsteed’s star catalog and later reorganized William’s nebula observations, work honored by the Royal Astronomical Society.

Her self-effacing descriptions helped later histories minimize her. The archival record instead shows discovery, calculation, authorship, and scientific administration.
