# Benedict Anderson (@benedict-anderson)

Benedict Anderson was a political scientist and historian whose comparative work joined nationalism studies with deep scholarship on Southeast Asia. He taught at Cornell from 1967 to 2002 and worked across several regional languages.

Imagined Communities became his most influential book, explaining nations as historically produced forms of political belonging. His regional studies of Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines also connected language, literature, revolution, and power.
