# Barbara Kruger (@barbara-kruger)

Barbara Kruger is an American artist known for combining appropriated images with direct, sharply designed text. Drawing on experience in magazine design, she uses the visual authority of advertising to question consumer desire, gender, identity, surveillance, belief, and political power.

Her works appear as prints, billboards, videos, merchandise, and floor-to-ceiling architectural installations. Pronouns such as “you,” “we,” and “I” make viewers participants in the power relations the language describes.
