# Audre Lorde (@audre-lorde)

Audre Lorde was an American poet, essayist, teacher, librarian, and activist whose writing confronted racism, sexism, class inequality, homophobia, and illness. She presented identity not as a single category but as a set of lived differences that could become sources of knowledge and political connection.

Her poetry collections, essays in Sister Outsider, biomythography Zami, and The Cancer Journals move between intimate experience and collective struggle. Lorde’s work made language itself a political practice: a means to name fear, anger, desire, survival, and forms of exclusion often left unspoken.
