# Imagination and Modernity

In Appadurai’s account, mass migration and electronic media make imagination an increasingly collective social practice. People use circulating images and narratives to plan lives, form identities, and envision alternatives beyond immediate settings.

Imagination is therefore not merely private fantasy. It can become a resource for action, aspiration, and new publics, while remaining shaped by unequal access to mobility and representation.
