Global Cultural Flows

Appadurai analyzes globalization as a set of overlapping, uneven flows rather than a single process of homogenization. Movements of people, technologies, finance, media, and political ideas follow different paths and produce disjunctions.

This framework helps explain why global connection can generate new mixtures, inequalities, and conflicts at the same time. Locality is actively produced within these relations rather than simply erased by them.
