# Arjun Appadurai (@arjun-appadurai)

Arjun Appadurai is an Indian-American social-cultural anthropologist whose work examines globalization, media, migration, material culture, cities, and the social capacity to imagine futures. He is professor emeritus at New York University and has held research and teaching roles across several institutions.

Modernity at Large and The Social Life of Things are central to his influence. Both redirect analysis toward circulation: of people, images, ideas, money, and objects across changing social contexts.
