In 1997, Zeilinger and collaborators demonstrated quantum teleportation: transferring an unknown quantum state from one particle to another using shared entanglement and classical communication.

Teleportation does not transport matter and does not send usable information faster than light. It reconstructs a state at the destination while the original state is destroyed, a distinction central to both the physics and its possible information applications.
