# Anthony Giddens (@anthony-giddens)

Anthony Giddens is a British sociologist known for structuration theory and wide-ranging studies of modernity, globalization, identity, politics, and risk. He also served as director of the London School of Economics from 1997 to 2003.

His work seeks to overcome oppositions between individual action and social structure. Later books trace how modern institutions reorganize time, space, trust, intimacy, and political possibilities across long distances.
