Race, Class, Gender, and Black Feminism

Davis’s scholarship examines how race, class, and gender shape one another rather than operating as separate systems. Women, Race, and Class traced these relationships through slavery, labor, suffrage, and twentieth-century political movements.

This framework also informs her political practice: feminist analysis must account for state violence, economic structure, and the different conditions confronting women. Her later collaborative work explicitly joins abolitionist and feminist thought.
