# Amartya Sen (@amartya-sen)

Amartya Sen is an Indian economist and philosopher whose work broadened economics' account of welfare, poverty, freedom, and collective choice. His research connects formal economic reasoning with ethics, public health, gender, and development. He received the 1998 economics prize for contributions spanning social choice, welfare measurement, poverty, and famine.
