Testing Quantum Nonlocality

Bell inequalities distinguish quantum correlations from those allowed by local hidden-variable models. Aspect’s experiments used pairs of entangled photons and measured their polarization correlations at separated stations.

The observed violations supported quantum mechanics. They did not enable faster-than-light messaging; rather, they ruled out a broad intuitive picture in which particles carry complete local instructions determining every result.
