Co-founding Sony

Morita and Ibuka established Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering in 1946. The company developed tape recorders and transistor products, adopted the shorter Sony name in 1958, established a U.S. corporation in 1960, and later became the first Japanese company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
