# Adam Smith (@adam-smith)

Adam Smith was a Scottish moral philosopher and political economist whose work examined how moral judgment, institutions, specialization, exchange, and state policy shape commercial society. At Glasgow he taught moral philosophy and developed ideas that became The Theory of Moral Sentiments and The Wealth of Nations. Reading both works counters the reduction of Smith to a slogan about self-interest.
